Responsibilities

Job description

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, the Development Officer is responsible for research, needs assessment, development, implementation and evaluation concerning all programs and materials related to staff training.

FUNCTION & DUTIES:
  • Coordinate the implementation, delivery, evaluation and update of the training programs and related documentation;
  • Collaborate with and lead internal (the supervisor, human resources, an employee, etc.) and external (educational and professional institutions) partners to make recommendations and facilitate the training initiatives;
  • Analyze the training needs of Kativik Ilisarniliriniq’s employees and identify appropriate resources to implement training programs and materials;
  • Provide beginner-level training on the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to Kativik Ilisarniliriniq employees in Nunavik and Montreal;
  • Prepare staff manuals, orientation curriculum and training sessions in collaboration with the concerned departments, as well as collect feedback from recipients concerning these materials or sessions;
  • Participate in the implementation and update of Kativik Ilisarniliriniq’s strategic plan as it relates to training and development;
  • Collaborate closely with the Strategic Planning Coordinator;
  • Maintain records and generate reports regarding training;
  • Travel to Nunavik communities to conduct needs analysis and lead training sessions;
  • Carry out any other task deemed appropriate by the immediate supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate specialty, notably in Adult Education, Human Resources, Psychology or Instructional Design.

The School Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written in two of the three languages of the school board (French, English, Inuktitut);
  • Three or more years of experience in a unionized environment;
  • Excellent presentation and training skills;
  • Well versed in various training techniques, needs assessment and leadership qualities;
  • Excellent knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to exhibit patience while training;
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality;
  • Ability and willingness to travel in and around Montreal to our satellite offices, as well as to the 14 communities of Nunavik as needed;
  • Knowledge of Nunavik and Inuit culture (asset).
CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:

In accordance with the SPPENOM collective agreement for professionals. This position belongs to job category 2143: From $56,670 to $100,410 annually depending on qualification and experience.
