Job summary

Dexterra Group in Canada is seeking a talented Baker / Pastry Chef to join our kitchen team. You will craft breads, pastries, desserts, and cakes with pride in quality and presentation in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of baking experience in restaurant, hotel, or institutional settings, strong food safety knowledge, and the ability to stand long hours and lift up to 35 pounds. Great dessert presentation skills are valued.

• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
• Experience preparing baked goods for large numbers of guests.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 35 pounds.
• Strong knowledge of baking techniques, pastry preparation, and dessert presentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and bake a variety of breads, pastries, desserts, cakes, and other baked goods.
• Develop and execute daily baking and dessert menus.
• Preparing and baking goods from scratch.
• Restocking pastry shelves and maintaining a sufficient and fresh supply of baked goods.
• Maintain consistent quality, flavour, freshness, and presentation.
• Ensure quality standards per client requirements including dietary constraints.
• Comply with food hygiene regulations and sanitize equipment and work area.

WHAT’S THE JOB?

We are looking for a talented, passionate, and dependable Baker / Pastry Chef to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in baking and pastry preparation, takes pride in quality and presentation, and enjoys working in a fast-paced professional kitchen.

Your work will include:

• Prepare and bake a variety of breads, pastries, desserts, cakes, and other baked goods
• Develop and execute daily baking and dessert menus.
• Preparing and baking goods from scratch
• Restocking pastry shelves and maintaining a sufficient and fresh supply of baked goods
• Maintain consistent quality, flavour, freshness, and presentation.
• Ensuring consistent quality standard in over-all food preparation as per clients’ requirements including consideration to special dietary constraints
• Complying with food hygiene regulations in accordance with Food Safety Act
• Cleaning, washing, and sanitizing equipment and over-all work area
