Job summary

Bakestone Brothers is seeking a reliable bakery associate to join our production team in Burnaby. You will prepare dough, mix and bake breads, and ensure production targets are met while maintaining quality and safety standards.

The role requires handling of dough, operating bakery equipment, and occasional weekend work. Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada and able to lift up to 20 kg.

Qualifications

• Completion of secondary school.
• Three years of commercial baking experience is considered an asset.
• Able to speak, read and understand English.
• Flexible schedule and able to work weekends.
• Able to work in a dusty environment.
• Able to perform lifting of 20 kg.

• Prepare dough for bread according to recipes or special customer orders.
• Bake mixed doughs according to production schedules and quality standards, managing time to meet production targets.
• Knead, divide, shape, and portion dough to meet production requirements.
• Set up, operate and adjust machines (mixers, dough dividers, moulders, proofers, and ovens).
• Monitor fermentation, proofing, oven temperatures and speeds, and baking processes to ensure standards are met.

• Prepare dough for bread according to recipes or special customer orders.
• Bake mixed doughs according to production schedules and quality standards, effectively managing time to ensure production targets are met on schedule.
• Knead, divide, shape, and portion dough to meet production requirements.
• Set up, operate and adjust machines (e.g., mixers, dough dividers, moulders, proofers, and ovens).
• Monitor fermentation, proofing, oven temperatures and speeds, and baking processes to ensure they are according to the standard and make adjustments as necessary.
• Gather ingredients from the warehouse in the necessary quantities according to the production schedule.
• Scale ingredients according to the recipes and maintain records regarding lot numbers.
• Record production information such as quantity, weight, size, date, and type of products made.
• Check products for size, texture, appearance, quality, and defects to ensure compliance with company standards.
• Maintain product quality standards and ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, GMP, and workplace safety requirements.
• Clean equipment, utensils, and work areas at the end of shifts.

Skills and Experience
