Affirm in Canada seeks a software engineer to build backend services powering post-transaction outcomes for the Affirm Card. You’ll collaborate with product, compliance, and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable systems.

Role requires 1.5+ years of experience, Python or Kotlin, and familiarity with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes. You will write clean, well-tested code and participate in reviews in a remote-first environment with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiar with distributed systems and AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Ability to translate business problems into multi-component solutions with well-tested code.
• Strong communication and collaboration across global teams.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Break down large projects into tasks, delivering in phases with timely collaboration.
• Support product lifecycle with product management, design & analytics involvement.
• Support operations and on-call efforts, monitoring metrics and escalating as needed.
• Contribute to team growth through interview participation and peer feedback.
