Job summary

Capital One Canada is seeking an Intern, Backend Software Engineer for Winter 2027 at 161 Bay Street, Toronto. You will design, build, and scale backend services handling high traffic and regulatory rules, contribute API features, and participate in code reviews.

You will work with Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python on Spring Boot, AWS, and data pipelines. You'll gain hands-on experience with ETL processes, testing, and deployment pipelines while collaborating with engineers, product managers, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher expected by December 2026 or later.
• Familiarity with backend application development and APIs.
• Good communication, presentation, and writing skills.
• Good understanding of testing fundamentals.
• Ability to work within a team and participate in discussions.

Responsibilities

• Write backend code to meet story acceptance criteria.
• Build and maintain high-volume APIs and ETL data pipelines.
• Write automated tests and integrate them into deployment pipelines.
• Participate in code reviews, design sessions, and Agile ceremonies.
• Collaborate with product and engineering stakeholders to implement new system features.
