Job summary

C-CORE is seeking a Software Developer to join the COREsight Team in St. John’s, NL. You will build and scale Python data pipelines, ingest satellite imagery, AIS, and RF detections, and work on the tasking adapter layer across providers.

You’ll collaborate with front-end teams and contribute to ML/Ops, DevOps, and geospatial cataloging. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of Python backend experience, strong SQL (Postgres), and familiarity with geospatial data and maritime concepts.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of professional Python backend experience.
• Experience building data pipelines or workflow orchestration (Prefect, Airflow, Dagster, or similar).
• Strong SQL skills; experience with Postgres, including JSONB and auditability.
• Comfort working with unreliable external APIs and building resilience (retries, idempotency).
• Ability to work independently against specifications and ask clarifying questions.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Python data pipelines (Prefect) for imagery, AIS, and RF detections.
• Develop satellite tasking adapter layer for multiple providers behind a unified interface.
• Integrate ML capabilities and ensure ML/Ops principles are followed.
• Improve reliability of ingestion processes and schemas (Postgres/PostGIS).
• Contribute to geospatial cataloguing with STAC/pgSTAC/TiTiler.
• Work in a GCP/Kubernetes environment with observability and DevOps best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and operational discipline for onboarding new customers.
