Job summary

PASCALL is a Cambridge-based medical device company focused on anesthesia monitoring and EEG-based brain-state algorithms. We are hiring a locally based Software Engineer to strengthen the backend, connect to hospital IT, and extend the platform into clinical environments.

You will own API development, data pipelines, and integrations with middleware and EHR systems, while collaborating with hardware, QA, and regulatory teams to ensure safety and compliance in a regulated medical device context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent professional experience.
• 2–5 years of industry experience building production software (backend or full-stack).
• Strong Python and Java coding skills; experience with APIs and data contracts.
• Experience with cloud services (Firebase/GCP or AWS).

Responsibilities

• Build and strengthen the backend APIs and data processing pipelines.
• Collaborate with hospital IT and clinical teams during integrations.
• Improve testing, quality, and observability across services.
• Troubleshoot issues in live clinical environments.
• Develop data workflows for algorithm and data quality.
• Support regulated development with design controls and FDA submissions.
• Prototype new ideas and explore architecture improvements.
• Design device-to-clinical environment integrations using HL7/FHIR where applicable.
