About The Role

Ready to grow with our Platform Team? We're looking for an Intermediate Backend Developer to join us remotely from Canada.

Reporting to a Senior Software Development Manager, you'll be part of a multi-faceted pod responsible for building our internal development framework, maintaining code quality standards, and owning our internal authentication/authorization system. You'll also support feature teams as they advance their distributed systems architecture.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Own and maintain our authentication and authorization systems, ensuring secure and scalable access control across all services in our distributed architecture.

  • Develop components for our internal library used by all backend developers to build our service oriented architecture.

  • Develop POCs, gather systems inputs, build dashboards, make data-driven decisions to better our domains, systems & the business.

  • Lead small to medium size projects, ensure project delivery meets expectations for our internal stakeholders.

  • Foster cross-team collaboration, being a part of building a healthy engineering culture.

  • Once fully integrated into the team you’ll be expected to join an on-call rotation with shifts every few weeks supporting our cross-functional services.

Who You Are
  • You hold a bachelor’s in computer science, engineering, or a related field, with AWS certifications being a plus.

  • You embrace AI-powered development workflows and have hands-on experience with tools like Claude Code or other AI coding assistants to accelerate development while ensuring code quality and maintainability.

  • You have experience working with and developing Distributed Systems as well as an Event driven Architecture.

  • You are proficient with programming languages like Go, Python and SQL.

  • You are solution oriented and thrive on complex technical issues.

  • You love working on hard problems, and owning the technical solutions from ideation to completion.

  • You have excellent communication skills in order to dissect complex technical issues in a clear and concise manner.

  • You excel at collaborating in a distributed team environment, proactively engaging with teammates while being self-directed in your work.

Nice to have:
  • Experience working with and supporting authentication/authorization systems (OAuth, JWT, RBAC, etc.)

  • Experience with tools such as Datadog, Temporal, GitHub Actions, RabbitMQ.
