LivingSafe is a Montreal-based startup that specializes in the collection, analysis and interpretation of data. With LISA, our non-intrusive smart-monitoring system, we provide accurate, insightful information on seniors' health, safety and well-being to caregivers in real-time. Our mission is to improve the quality of care provided to seniors by offering a tool that facilitates patient care in establishments and within the home.

LivingSafe is currently looking for a talented backend developer to join our dynamic and ambitious tech development team. We are seeking someone that will make use of their technical and professional skills to develop a robust, scalable and secure backend. Within this role, you will be asked to design, test, deploy and maintain an entire cloud infrastructure that manages the LISA IoT devices and the client APIs on AWS. This position also calls for an ingenious developer who will set up another backend within our internal servers. This includes helping with R&D, metadata generation, AI training and continuous improvement of the solution. Working with us, you will take part in implementing the foundational pieces of our system’s backend as well as leading a project that will have a significant impact on senior care in Canada.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Integrate and participate actively with the entire LivingSafe team
• Understand the various hardware and software components of the LISA system
• Define cloud and internal architecture requirements in accordance to the LISA solution specifications that takes into account scalability, performance and stability
• Work hand in hand with hardware dev team for a smooth integration to the IoT end
• Build an IoT device management and authentication system on AWS
• Lead or take part in design meetings for production API development with key customers
• Develop, test and deploy a cloud API (AWS) capable of handling multiple clients requests for a cloud database
• Develop, test and deploy a internal API capable of handling development and production requests for a local database
• Ensure security and data protection over both the cloud and local infrastructures

Skills and Qualifications

• 0-3 years of experience working in backend development
• Experience with AWS cloud services (must)
• Experience with AWS IOT core (nice to have)
• Understanding of AWS serverless concepts and methods
• Experience with Node.js
• Experience with MongoDB
• Proficiency with MQTT communication protocol
• Proficiency in a front-end language / framework (Angular, Javascript, CSS, HTML)
• Familiarity with Linux system and Bash terminal
• Familiarity with container and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
