We're well-funded and focused on building practical, customer-centric software to solve real problems in a traditionally underserved market.

The Opportunity
We’re looking for a senior backend developer to join as one of our earliest hires. You'll work closely with the founders to build and scale the core infrastructure of the platform. This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, making architectural decisions, and delivering backend systems that are secure, performant, and easy to maintain.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs

• Collaborate on system architecture, data modeling, and infrastructure decisions

• Integrate with third-party systems (e.g., DTC sales platforms, government tax/reporting services)

• Write clean, well-documented, and testable code

• Ensure system reliability, scalability, and security

• Contribute to internal best practices and code reviews

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience

• Strong proficiency in modern backend technologies (e.g., Node.js, Python, Go, or similar)

• Experience building and scaling RESTful APIs

• Solid understanding of databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), data modeling, and performance optimization

• Experience working with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure)

• Comfort with CI/CD, containerization (e.g., Docker), and automated testing

• Familiarity with authentication/authorization, data security, and compliance is a plus

• Must be based in Canada and legally authorized to work full-time
