AgeCare is seeking a Summer Student to assist in therapeutic programs and enhance the quality of life for residents. The Opportunity:

The Summer Student assists in the implementation and daily operations of therapeutic programs in the home.

As a member of the Resident Care Team, the Summer Student assists in enhancing the quality of life for our Residents and will gain an appreciation of working with Senior residents within continuing care.


What Is In It For You:

  • To provide assistance in Recreation Therapy and Occupational therapy programming.
  • To provide 1:1 engagement to our Residents based on assessed need by the Recreation Therapist.
  • Communicates with Therapists to keep them informed of the participation level of the Resident.
  • Assist Residents with mealtimes including portering.
  • Performs duties related to plant and animal care.
  • To provide assistance with designated projects as determined by Management team (ie outdoor projects, filing, organizing).
  • Maintains professionalism and confidentiality to all Residents and family to ensure individual rights are respected and protected.
  • Seeks assistance as required.
  • Performs all duties in a manner in which resident safety is the focus.
  • Reports any unsafe activities that may cause harm or injury to a resident.


What You Will Need:

  • High school student who has completed grade 11 and applied to the Career Health Services Youth Initiative through their school.
  • Students who have a strong interest in health occupations upon graduation from high school.
  • Previous experience in a long-term care setting an asset.
  • Experience working with seniors an asset.
  • Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing.
