The Opportunity:

The Registered Nurse (RN) reporting to the Director of Care is responsible to provide direct resident care and medication administration and document care in compliance with regulatory and Resident Health and Wellness standards and policies and procedures.

What You Will Do:
  1. Complete and ensure residents’ care assessments, service plans and documentation are up to date and changes communicated to DOC for billings.
  2. Assist with scheduling of residents’ care conferences and participate in conferences.
  3. Work closely with DOC to facilitate residents’ move in and transfers.
  4. Order and safe keep drugs and narcotics and administer in compliance with all regulatory requirements and policies and procedures.
  5. Facilitate and provide resident/family education.
  6. Supervise resident self medication assessment and audits.
  7. Supervise and delegate care and medication administration responsibilities to Unregulated Care Providers in compliance with applicable regulations and policy and procedures.
  8. Plan, coordinate, manage and evaluate the resident’s care plan working with the resident/substitute decision maker, physicians, nursing and interdisciplinary team and contracted service providers.
  9. Coordinate nursing team’s resident care assignments to ensure efficient and timely delivery of services to residents.
What You Will Need:
  1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse in applicable Province/State.
  2. Experience working with seniors and unregulated care providers.
  3. Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset.
  4. Strong written and oral communication, critical thinking, care coordination, time management and customer focus skills.
  5. Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge and ability to delegate to unregulated care providers.
  6. Maintain competencies as per the governing College standards.
  7. Skills in use of computer and Microsoft Office applications.
  8. Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (VPS).
