We are currently looking for a Azure System Administrator to join our team.

What you can expect in this role:

Reporting to the Head of DevOps, the Azure System Administrator is responsible for the deployment, monitoring, and ongoing management of Bitfarms’ Azure-based infrastructure. Their goal is to ensure high availability, security, and scalability of our cloud systems in support of global mining operations. This role demands strong expertise in Azure services, infrastructure automation, and system reliability. The Azure System Administrator plays a key role in driving operational excellence across our cloud environment, collaborating closely with DevOps and engineering teams to ensure seamless infrastructure performance and compliance.

More specifically, here are some of the key responsibilities:

  • Act as a subject matter expert for Microsoft 365 and Azure products and services.
  • Deliver technical support to front-line agents and external partners.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base articles.
  • Design and improve processes related to M365 and Azure offerings.
  • Monitor system health, performance, and logs to ensure uptime and reliability.
  • Proactively identify issues and implement monitoring, alerting, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with teams to address vulnerabilities and maintain security posture.
  • Investigate and respond to security incidents, performing root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Manage Azure Active Directory (AAD) roles, permissions, and access controls.
  • Support disaster recovery planning and regularly test backup/restore procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, SOC 2, or GDPR.
  • Automate tasks using PowerShell, Python, Logic Apps, or Azure Functions.
  • Configure and manage Azure Sentinel or other SIEM tools for threat detection and response.
  • Stay current on emerging threats and cloud security best practices.

Here's the profile we're looking for:

  • Proven experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure services: migrations, Intune, Exchange, Security, Entra, etc.
  • Strong technical competency in Microsoft 365, Azure, and cloud computing concepts (IAAS).
  • Solid understanding of network architecture: switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Excellent troubleshooting abilities—able to deconstruct complex problems and lead cross-functional resolutions.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical mindset with a results-driven approach.
  • Experience providing technical support across diverse customer environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficient with PowerShell scripting.
  • Microsoft and Google certifications are considered an asset.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Certifications such as Azure Security Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps pipelines and CI/CD processes.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Bicep).
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps methodologies and security tooling.
  • Understanding of secure coding practices, particularly in .NET.
  • Experience with log management and monitoring solutions.
