Azure Security Engineer, Moncton, NB - Full-time

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Azure Security Engineer to define, design, configure, and govern the security posture of our next-generation, multi-tenant SaaS platform hosted in Microsoft Azure. This is a senior role where you will be the primary authority on all aspects of the platform's security.

As an Azure Security Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security controls and best practices across our Azure environments. You’ll work closely with DevOps, infrastructure and engineering teams to embed security into every layer of our cloud infrastructure, and the development lifecycle from initial design to production operations. This is a high-impact role where you will build the framework of trust for our customers and our business and ensuring compliance with industry standards and protecting our systems from threats.

Key Responsibilities

• Security Architecture and Strategy: Design and develop security architecture for our multi-tenant Azure platform and hosted applications and infrastructure. Manage and reconfigure Azure settings based on security best practice. Develop and manage security controls, policies, and governance for Azure cloud services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
• Threat Modeling: Conduct threat modeling exercises to identify, assess, and mitigate security risks specific to a multi-tenant environment and large-scale data processing workloads.
• Deployment & API Security: Collaborate with DevOps team in integrating security into the CI/CD pipeline based on Azure software deployment solutions. Provide instructions on deployment security and implement solutions in different layers, such as static/dynamic application security testing (SAST/DAST), dependency scanning, container security, and secure coding practices, Application Gateway and WAF solutions in Azure.
• Data Security and Encryption: Implement and manage data classification, DLP policies, and apply Azure solutions for data-at-rest and data-in-transit encryption. Manage encryption key lifecycles and ensure secure key management practices across cloud workloads.
• Access Management: Design and implement a comprehensive, multi-tenant PIM & PAM strategy using Microsoft Azure features and services. Also define standards for customer and internal access, and federated identity.
• Secure Networking: Define and implement the security controls for cloud networks, including VNet segmentation, firewall policies, DDoS protection, intrusion detection/prevention, and secure ingress/egress patterns.
• Threat Detection & Incident Response: Develop and refine the security threat detection and incident response plan for the cloud environment by applying Azure solutions such as MS Defender, Azure Graph, and MS Sentinel. Stay updated on the latest cloud security threats, tools, and trends.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Azure Cloud Engineering, with at least 4+ years focused on Azure Security role.
• Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Azure security services and architecture. Deep understanding of Azure services (VMs, VNets, MS Defender, AzureDevOps, etc.).
• Demonstrable experience designing security for multi-tenant SaaS applications, with a deep understanding of tenant isolation patterns at the identity, network, and data layers.
• Profound understanding of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) for complex identity scenarios, including multi-tenant federation, B2B/B2C, and Conditional Access policies.
• Strong experience with data protection technologies, including encryption, key management (specifically Azure Key Vault), and data loss prevention (DLP).
• Comprehensive knowledge of network security principles and their application in Azure (NSGs, Azure Firewall, WAF, Private Link).

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Cloud Security Governance: Design and implement security guardrails and governance using Azure Policy and Blueprints. Ensure the infrastructure remains compliant with both internal policies and external regulatory frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR). Define security principles, policies, and processes.
• Technical Leadership: Serve as the subject matter expert on cloud security, providing guidance, mentorship, and architectural review for infrastructure and development teams.
• Hands-on experience with security posture management.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, Bicep).
• Experience with container and Kubernetes security, specifically hardening Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Advanced industry certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500) / Cybersecurity Architect Expert (SC-100).
• Experience in securing large-scale data platforms like Azure Databricks or Synapse Analytics

Salary Range: $98,000 - $121,000 (P3 Level)
