Job summary

Gordon Food Service - Canada is seeking an AZ Local Delivery Driver in Ottawa to cover delivery shifts from our local facility. The role starts at an hourly wage of 31.11 CAD, with increases based on months of service, and a four-day work week is offered.

You will responsibly deliver, unload, and secure products, build strong customer relationships, and ensure accurate payments and paperwork. Eligibility for TDG and a valid Class 1 license are required.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 1 driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 80 lbs.
• Eligible for bonding and TDG certification.

Responsibilities

• Deliver GFS products safely, accurately, and on time.
• Unload and move goods for customer locations using ramps and stairs.
• Maintain customer relationships and handle payments per policy.
• Perform vehicle inspections and maintain paperwork daily.

Position Overview

The AZ Local Delivery Driver will be responsible for covering delivery shifts out of Ottawa.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Ensures safe, accurate, timely, and efficient deliveries of GFS products.
• Manually sorting and unloading food products and hand-wheeling them into the customer locations with the use of ramps and occasionally stairs (approx. 600 - 1000 cases/shift)
• Build and maintain good customer relationships. Demonstrates self-control.
• Accurately collects customer payments. Safeguards company funds and follows GFS banking policies.
• Performs all Sales Service functions by the 90th day of employment.
• Performs proper equipment maintenance, monitors reefer temperature, and reports mechanical issues and damages in a timely manner.
• Completes daily check-ins in a timely manner with no errors.
• Collaborates with management and sales representatives to communicate customer concerns.
• Perform daily pre/post trip inspection of vehicles and equipment. Completes check in process accurately and on time. Manages paperwork to include register, credits, pick-ups, etc
• Develops and maintains a good working relationship with other GFS employees.
• Maintains peer relationships in the field to share issues and ideas. Attending department meetings
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Valid Class 1 driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract
• Proven ability of lifting, pushing and pulling up to 80 lbs
• Eligibility for bonding and transportation of dangerous goods (TDG) certification
• Excellent customer service skillsStrong mechanical aptitude
• A high level of integrity and a strong work ethic, able to work with little supervision and be self-directed
• Professional demeanor under stressful situations
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Availability for weekends
