Job summary

Gordon Food Service is seeking an AZ Transit Driver for the Sudbury Depot. The role involves delivering to customers, operating refrigerated equipment, and maintaining safety standards on night shifts (Sun/Sun, Mon, Wed, Thurs; 3:30-5:30 PM start).

Starting hourly rate is $31.11, with benefits after 30 days, and opportunities for advancement within a 125-year family-owned company. Must hold valid Class 1 license and have at least 2 years of AZ driving experience.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid AZ license with a clean commercial driving abstract.
• Minimum of 2 years of AZ driving experience required.
• Able to work in a variety of weather, temperature and road conditions.

Responsibilities

• Ensures safe, accurate, timely, and efficient deliveries of Gordon Food Service products.
• Transports loaded and empty trailers from GFS Distribution Centers or point-to-point via night transit in a timely manner.
• Collaborates with the Supervisor/Leadership and dispatcher for work assignments and on-time delivery.
• Perform proper equipment maintenance, monitor reefer temperature, and report issues promptly.
• Complete daily check-ins accurately and on time; manage paperwork.

Position: AZ Transit Driver - Sudbury Depot

Schedule:

• Sun/Mon/Wed/Thurs
• Night Shifts | 3:30-5:30 PM starting time

Position Summary:

Presents a positive image to Gordon Food Service (GFS) while transporting loaded and empty trailers from GFS Distribution Centers or from point-to-point via night transit in a timely manner. Presents a positive image when delivering to our volume customers. Operates GFS equipment in a professional and safe manner demonstrating attention to detail, safe work habits, and working knowledge of refrigerated van.

Skills, Knowledge and Ability Required:

• Valid AZ driver’s license with a clean commercial driver’s abstract
• Previous professional driving experience is preferred
• Ability to work in a variety of weather, temperature and road conditions

Essential Functions:

• Ensures safe, accurate, timely, and efficient deliveries of GFS products.
• Transports loaded and empty trailers from GFS Distribution Centers or from point-to-point via night transit in a timely manner.
• Collaborates with the Supervisor and Leadership and/or dispatcher for work assignments, changes in assignments and on-time delivery performance.
• Perform proper equipment maintenance, monitor reefer temperature, and reports mechanical issues and damages in timely manner.
• Complete daily check-ins in a timely manner with no errors.
• Collaborates with management and sales representatives to communicate customer concerns.
• Perform daily pre/post trip inspection of vehicles and equipment. Completes check in process accurately and on time. Manage paperwork to include register, credits, pick-ups, etc
• Develop and maintain a good working relationship with other GFS employees.
• Maintains peer relationships in the field to share issues and ideas. Attending department meetings
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

• Valid Class 1 license is a MUST
• A minimum of 2 years of AZ driving experience is required.
• Requires punctuality, problem solving and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently and also function in a team environment.
• Must be goal oriented with a positive “can-do” attitude.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of this job including lifting, pushing, pulling of product.
