The successful candidate should reside in Ottawa.

Position: AZ Local Delivery Driver (Bancroft)

Schedule: 5 to 6AM Start time, 4 to 5 Days per week

Position Overview

The AZ Local Delivery Driver will be responsible for covering delivery shifts out of Ottawa.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Ensures safe, accurate, timely, and efficient deliveries of GFS products.
  • Manually sorting and unloading food products and hand-wheeling them into the customer locations with the use of ramps and occasionally stairs (approx. 600 - 1000 cases/shift)
  • Build and maintain good customer relationships. Demonstrates self-control.
  • Accurately collects customer payments. Safeguards company funds and follows GFS banking policies.
  • Performs all Sales Service functions by the 90th day of employment.
  • Performs proper equipment maintenance, monitors reefer temperature, and reports mechanical issues and damages in a timely manner.
  • Completes daily check-ins in a timely manner with no errors.
  • Collaborates with management and sales representatives to communicate customer concerns.
  • Performs daily pre/post trip inspection of vehicles and equipment. Completes check in process accurately and on time. Manages paperwork to include register, credits, pick-ups, etc.
  • Develops and maintains a good working relationship with other GFS employees.
  • Maintains peer relationships in the field to share issues and ideas. Attending department meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Valid Class 1 driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract
  • Proven ability of lifting, pushing and pulling up to 80 lbs
  • Eligibility for bonding and transportation of dangerous goods (TDG) certification
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • A high level of integrity and a strong work ethic, able to work with little supervision and be self-directed
  • Professional demeanor under stressful situations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Availability for weekends
