AZ / DZ DRIVER BOOM OPERATOR | ONSITE
FULL TIME
Delivers material to job sites, inspects and maintains trucks, reports shortages and claims to operations manager. Assists in loading and storing materials. Operates boom-equipped trucks for unloading, hoisting, and placement of materials.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares, loads, and unloads the vehicle manually and/or using company equipment. Reports discrepancies and obtains proper authorization.
- Plans and supervises truck loading, ensuring cargo is secured and distributed according to regulations. Assists in placing materials on trucks.
- Plans delivery routes and locations as per dispatcher’s schedule.
- Manoeuvres trucks with assistance when necessary, respecting safety and traffic regulations.
- Verifies soil conditions at delivery sites for safe weight support.
- Uses tarpaulins to cover merchandise when needed, and uncovers and stores them properly at delivery sites.
- Reinstalls guardrails or scaffolds removed during loading to maintain safety.
- Delivers and places merchandise neatly in designated areas as per customer instructions.
- Collects payments for C.O.D deliveries and obtains signatures for credit accounts.
- Maintains vehicle cleanliness and adheres to safety gear requirements.
- Maintains professional conduct, avoiding vulgar language and aggression.
- Drives trucks respecting highway traffic laws, performs daily vehicle inspections, and logs necessary information.
- Operates the boom for unloading and placement, inspecting and maintaining the boom per manufacturer’s instructions.
- Ensures safety at construction sites, avoiding electrical wires, and assessing soil stability.
- Uses a helper as a signal person when needed and drives trucks with trailers following safety regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned, consulting supervisors when uncertain.
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE
- At least 1 year of truck driving and 1 year of boom operation experience
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION
- Valid Boom Operator’s license (MTCU 0-8 TON) and endorsement
- AZ or DZ License with a clean record
- Insurability and a clean MVR
- Working at Heights certification
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
- Basic arithmetic, reading, writing, and form completion skills
- Effective communication skills
- Knowledge of safe lifting techniques
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and see clearly
- Manual dexterity and strength to lift up to 100 lbs., frequently up to 50 lbs
ENVIRONMENT AND WORK CONDITIONS
- Work outdoors in varying temperatures
- Operate mechanical equipment daily
