Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Canada seeks an AZ Driver to operate straight trucks and tractor-trailers for the Soil Division, covering routes north of Sault Ste. Marie.

This role includes winter driving to mine sites and daily cross-border runs into Michigan, with safety and reliability at the core. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of commercial driving experience and an AZ license, and is able to work weekends or nights when required.

Responsibilities

• Perform end-of-day checks and report hazards or incidents to supervisors.

In this key role, you will operate various straight truck and tractor-trailer combinations to support our Soil Division. You will be responsible for completing routes North of Sault Ste.Marie, including winter driving to mine sites, as well as managing cross-border runs, ensuring we continue to serve our customers safely and efficiently.

Requirements:

• Licensing: Valid AZ driver’s license with a clean Driver’s Abstract and CVOR.
• Driving Experience: Minimum 5 years of commercial driving experience.
• Equipment Operation: Demonstrated experience with dump trucks, walking floors, heavy/over-sized loads, flat decks, and float transportation.
• Adaptability: Ability to adapt to daily changes in project assignments and work weekends or nights when required.
• Safety Commitment: Ability to successfully satisfy all company standards for safety-sensitive operational roles.
• Physical Requirements: Must be physically fit to succeed in the position.

Responsibilities:

• Safe Fleet Operation: Operate various straight truck and tractor-trailer combinations, including Roll-Off truck and pup combinations, to support the Soil Division.
• Route Execution: Complete routes North of Sault Ste.Marie, including winter operations on Highway 17 N to service the Westdome Gold Mine location on Paint Lake Rd.
• Cross-Border Travel: Complete daily AZ runs to Michigan (Traverse City and Dafter, MI) as required.
• Safety Inspections: Conduct thorough electronic driving logbook entries and daily inspections of assigned assets.
• Reporting & Maintenance: Perform end-of-day driver check-ins to ensure complete and accurate paperwork; promptly report any route hazards or safety incidents to Route Supervisors.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure service is completed in strict accordance with contract obligations, traffic laws, and GFL’s "Safe For Life" practices.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with supervisors to ensure routes are completed in a timely and safe manner.
• Additional Duties: Perform other operational duties, including dump truck and walking floor operations, as assigned by leadership.
