Job Summary: No two days are the same, but that is how we become the experts that our clients expect to work with. Producing and managing your portfolios of accounts, through the strong market relationships you have, is at the core of your role at SCOR. The guidelines we develop support the underwriting business plan for your line of business, but you will have the chance to contribute to portfolio growth and diversification, supporting the overall organization strategy. There is always a lot to do, but everything is linked to the overall results of SCOR Business Solutions, developing our market share, and enhancing our market image. When you receive, select and evaluate offers of business from various sources, your role is to produce terms and negotiate the bespoke wordings of the contracts. You will also support the development of our submission pipeline and promote SCOR by proactive marketing in line with strategy and guidelines defined by us. Business and market relationships are key to your and our success; by maintaining and developing these relationships with clients and brokers and attending broker and client hosted events, you will be part of our growth. We want you to be curious and innovative, with research and development as an important part of our work, looking at new areas of potential profitable growth. It is important to emphasize the importance of working as a team at SCOR, across underwriting, or with Claims and Pricing; we are successful because of this collaboration.

Responsibilities
  • Be part of the team delivering profitable growth and diversify the portfolio in accordance with strategy and in accordance with the SBS Insurance Guidelines and practices
  • Receive, select, and evaluate offers of business from various sources, calculate pricing, and negotiate conditions of the contracts
  • Identify, research, develop and report on new areas of profitable growth
  • Market all SBS capabilities and product solutions to Corporate Risk Managers, Brokers and Ceding Companies with a specific emphasis on Property
  • Develop marketing materials and intelligence documentation based on research and analysis of portfolio results and market data
  • Provide technical expertise, best practices and mentoring to underwriters in the region to assist in sourcing new business opportunities
  • Collaborate with peers in other regions to share market intelligence and best practices, ensuring consistent underwriting methodology worldwide
  • Assist other business lines in local market interactions to support cross-LOB growth
  • Collaborate with the Claims Function in negotiating/resolving claims arising from your portfolio
  • Ensure data quality and reporting to all IT systems
  • Demonstrate strong underwriting experience across the market
  • Demonstrate high technical acumen of reinsurance and insurance principals

  • Cycle Management – manage underwriting decisions and relationships around market cycles, balancing underwriting strategy, capacity management, portfolio management, and long-term partnerships

  • Emerging Risk Discovery – identify and evaluate new risks, monitor non-traditional risks, and develop policies to address them
Required experience & competencies
  • A minimum of 5+ years' experience in property underwriting, property insurance loss control, property insurance loss adjustment, or operations in a large industrial company risks is required
  • A strong knowledge of the primary broker network that places these risks
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills and negotiating ability
  • Advanced in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s degree required — engineering degree preferred but not mandatory
  • CIP or FCIP designations or other insurance studies preferred
