We are expanding our Canadian insurance business and seeking an AVP, Property Account Engineer for our Risk Control Division in Toronto. This role can be remote or based in our Toronto office.

The Property Account Engineer will provide risk improvement consultation for large and middle-market commercial property clients, focusing on assessing insurable loss exposures, supporting underwriters, and implementing risk mitigation strategies. Travel to client sites is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate new and renewal accounts for large and complex properties.
  • Review engineering reports and conduct desktop assessments for underwriting.
  • Coordinate client engagements and prioritize service assignments.
  • Perform on-site assessments and loss control surveys.
  • Provide risk mitigation recommendations and ensure compliance.
  • Analyze loss trends and emerging technologies for risk control solutions.
  • Lead client and broker meetings and networking events.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or related field.
  • Professional designations such as P.Eng., C-Eng, or ARM are highly desirable.
  • Minimum 10 years of insurance risk control experience preferred.
  • Experience with fire protection systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • French language skills are an asset.
