Zurich Canada is currently seeking an Assistant Vice President Property Underwriter, Central Region to underwrite new and renewal business.
Reporting to the Vice President, Central Property Underwriting Manager, the candidate will analyze and underwrite a portfolio of business (new and renewal), under limited direction, utilizing The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within delegated authority levels on highly complex assignments, ensuring a high level of service to customers.

What you will do :
- Underwrite and analyze new and renewal business within delegated authority, working under minimal supervision.
- Manage an assigned portfolio of accounts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients.
- Provide technical guidance, assistance, and training to new underwriters.
- Qualify accounts to meet organizational appetite and sound business opportunity.
- Cross-sell other lines of business to increase product density.
- Travel as required for business purposes.
Job Qualifications - What you bring to the table :
Required :
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing areas.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support areas.
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing areas.
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support areas.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience working under time constraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
- Experience working in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications :
- 7+ years of large property underwriting experience.
- Analytical mindset and inquisitive nature.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-starter with a proactive attitude.
- Experience understanding property wordings and terminology.
- Experience reviewing engineering reports.
- Experience with rating engines and Nat Cat modeling.
- Industry-specific education (F / CIP, CRM, RPLU, etc.) is an asset.
