Reporting to the Head of Group Operational Risk, the incumbent is responsible for supporting the successful execution of Butterfield’s Enterprise Risk Management programmes with particular focus on the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) programme.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the planning and execution of RCSA cycles across Butterfield Group business units, ensuring consistency with the enterprise risk framework.
• Providing second line challenge to business in RCSAs workshops, ensuring risk ratings and control assessments are robust, evidence-based, and aligned to risk appetite.
• Enhancing the RCSA framework by integrating key risk indicators (KRIs), loss data, audit findings, and external events into risk assessment outputs.
• Developing and maintaining RCSA templates, guidance documents, and training materials to promote standardized and high-quality risk assessments.
• Coordinating with local Operational Risk teams to ensure jurisdictional alignment and support consistent execution globally.
• Monitoring RCSA quality and completeness; generating thematic risk and control insights to inform senior risk reporting, and support automation and digitization of the RCSA process, working with stakeholders appropriately.
• Partnering with Internal Audit, Compliance, and other second line of defense areas to strengthen the Bank’s overall control environment.
• Ensuring that documentation of policies and procedures meets with Group policy and standards, and assisting in formulating risk management policies in collaboration with Senior Management.
• Acting as central coordinator of risk-related initiatives, prioritizing mitigation efforts in-line with risk strategy and criticality, as well as regulatory needs.

Your qualifications and skills include:

• Post-secondary degree in Business or a Risk Management related field; professional qualification in risk management preferred.
• 10+ years’ relevant experience in an Operational Risk or ERM related role; preference will be given to those with financial services industry experience, but not a requirement.
• Strong communication skills (both oral and written) and negotiation skills.
• Ability to motivate teams and to work to tight deadlines.
• Ability to multi-task, handle competing priorities, and follow through on commitments
• Ability to promptly and appropriately escalate risks and/or control failures to the Head of Operational Risk.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications.
