Position Overview

The Cormorant Mid-Life Upgrade (CMLU) Program is a comprehensive helicopter life extension program which will extend the life expectancy of the CH-149 Cormorant to at least 2042. Under the direction of the Aircraft Production Supervisor and Aircraft Production Manager, this individual will perform servicing, elementary work, and maintenance tasks on aircraft avionics systems and components in accordance with the approved maintenance program and uses technical data including, but not limited to, technical manuals and drawings.


What You Will Do

  1. On-aircraft production work including removal, disassembly, inspection, servicing/disposition/conditioning of removed components and parts, servicing, repair, modification, reassembly, installation, continuity checks, and support to Avionics Systems Technician.
  2. Safely operate support equipment and hand/power tools while adhering to Tool and FOD control procedures.
  3. Maintain a clean/safe work area utilizing safe work practices and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  4. Review and respond to built-in-test (BITE) results, and resolution of defects/unserviceabilities on avionics systems, including disassembly, replacement and reassembly; and related systems support such as disturbed systems checks and avionics functional checks.
  5. Conduct support for EMI/EMC tasks.
  6. Perform ramp duties including, but not limited to, marshalling, parking, towing, fueling/defueling, servicing, and post/pre-flight inspections.
  7. Assist Avionics Systems Technicians to perform the required maintenance after flight test.
  8. Perform authorized airworthiness functions of Shop Certification Authority (SCA) and Product Conformance Authority (PCA)
  9. Travel and work on off-site Mobile Repair Parties/Field Teams, and Work Parties.
  10. Provide on-job-training (OJT) and technical supervision to other Avionics Technicians. Training may be conducted in the UK.
  11. Attend trade training and development sessions for qualifications/authorization purposes.
  12. Adhere to policies, procedures and directives as established by the company.

What You Will Bring

  1. Must meet one of the following eligibility streams: a graduate of recognized aircraft maintenance or apprenticeship program, hold a current Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) license, be qualified as an Avionics Technician with the Canadian Forces, or be a graduate of an equivalent foreign military/civilian basic trade-training program.
  2. Transport Canada licensed AME s (E) or candidates with FAA/JAA equivalent, eligible for Transport Canada license or experience as Aircraft Certification Authority (ACA) and experience with major modifications and prototype aircraft ground test plans.
  3. Basic to detailed knowledge of aircraft avionics systems including but not limited to communications, navigational, radar, data management, instrument and electrical power distribution systems.
  4. Detailed knowledge in carrying out instructions, accessing and using Wire Information Management System (WIMS) and general wiring practices standards.
  5. Must be capable of reading and interpreting technical documentation such as technical manuals, drawings and Technical Data Packages.
  6. Must demonstrate a compliant and skilled level of proficiency, which is acquired by course or on the job training and practical experience, for authorization in the performance of maintenance (POM), and must demonstrate a basic understanding of airworthiness requirements for authorization to perform airworthiness functions.
  7. Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean & 8S activities in your area.
  8. Ability to travel for extended periods of time.
  9. Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
