Job description

The Avionics/Electrical Engineer – Authorized Person reports directly to the Director of Engineering. Matters related to Transport Canada (TC) delegate functions will be overseen by the Head of Airworthiness.

Duties & Responsibilities


  • Responsible for certification of avionics/electrical equipment and systems in Part 23/25/27/29 aircraft.

  • Make findings of compliance against avionics/electrical certification standards within the TC scope of delegation.

  • Review and approve design, operation, and engineering documents.

  • Conduct Engineering Conformity Inspections.

  • Witness ground and flight certification tests.

  • Ensure all design and administrative paperwork related to project certification is maintained in accordance with the company DAPM and Engineering Procedures Manual.

  • Liaise with TC and/or foreign CAA staff as required.

  • Liaise with customers and suppliers as the technical contact when required.

  • Support other departments such as MRO, Avionics, Sales, and Customer Support.

  • Mentor junior design/engineering staff to assist their knowledge and skills growth.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering or Head of Airworthiness.

Qualifications


  • Currently, or within the previous 12 months, hold a TC airworthiness delegation (AP within another company or DAR) and be eligible to be delegated as an avionics/electrical AP within the Avmax DAO.

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or electrical engineering (other qualifications may be considered).

  • Advanced job-related degrees an asset.

  • P. Eng or equivalent in a related engineering field preferred.

  • Possess a strong knowledge of aircraft certification procedures.

  • Possess a strong knowledge of avionics and electrical systems.

  • Familiar with FAR part 23 and 25 aircraft. Part 27 and 29 helicopters is an asset.

  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office suite. CAD software is an asset (AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks preferred).

  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally for work.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English (both written and verbal).




Experience


  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a TC delegate person.

  • Minimum 7 years of aircraft certification experience with responsibilities covering the design and certification of avionics/electrical modifications.

  • Minimum 10 years of related aviation engineering experience, preference given to those with recent experience with Part 25 aircraft.

  • Demonstrated capability and competency in field of expertise.
