Job summary

Menzies Aviation is seeking a dedicated cargo handler to ensure smooth operations on the tarmac and in our warehouse environments at Calgary. You will read manifests, move freight with forklifts, and manage storage and distribution of air cargo, adhering to safety guidelines and security checks.

The role requires physical capability to lift 30 kg repeatedly, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English proficiently.
• Must be able to lift at least 30 kgs on a continuous basis.
• Must pass Transport Canada Background check.
• Must be available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Read air waybills, bills of lading and freight manifests to determine items to move.
• Convey freight from receiving areas to storage or to other warehouse areas using forklift or other handling equipment.
• Sort and place materials on racks, shelves or in bins according to destination.
• Sort and store dangerous goods in proper area.
• Complete requisitions, work orders or requests for materials, tools or other stock items and distribute items.
• Open bales, crates, and other containers for breakdown. Record counts of items received or distributed.
• Weighs and counts items for distribution to ensure conformance to airway bill.
• Performs cargo build-up and/or breakdowns, freight to and/or from skid, pallets or ULDs.
• Perform X-ray or other pre-flight security checks on manifested cargo as required.
• Ensure that work areas are clean and hazard free.
