Job summary

The Government of the Northwest Territories, Department of Infrastructure, seeks an Apprentice Automobile Technician/Mechanic to service the department's mobile equipment fleet and stationary power units at the Hay River facility. The role is a 4-year term position with supervision from a Journeyman tradesperson.

Applicants must be eligible to write the Trades Entrance Exam, hold a valid NWT Class 5 driver’s license, and will progress through the apprenticeship with required hours, coursework

Qualifications

• Eligibility to write the Trades Entrance Exam (English 30-2, Math 30-3, Physics 20 or Chemistry 20).
• Valid NWT Class 5 driver’s license is mandatory.
• Ability to interpret repair manuals and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance and repair services for mobile equipment and stationary power units.
• Work under supervision of a Journeyman tradesperson at Hay River facility.
• Assist with diagnosing mechanical issues and following exam/course hours.
• Adhere to safety, processes and agency requirements.
