Position Title: Automotive Technical Training Developer

Role Summary

Our client, a leader in automotive manufacturing, seeks an Automotive Technical Training Developer. The team aims to develop portable skills through a structured diagnostic process. The Product Service Training provides dealership technicians with training to diagnose and repair vehicle sub-systems via a blended training model:

  • Virtual Classroom Training
  • Web-Based Training
  • Hands-On Classroom Training
Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze training opportunities and research needs
  • Select appropriate training mediums within the blended model
  • Collaborate during the training development process
  • Create packaged training courses supporting various curricula
  • Research and develop vehicle fault simulations and documentation
  • Present and deploy training at College Training Centers (Train the Trainer seminars)
  • Provide post-course support to Training Centers
  • Coach and serve as a technical resource for instructors
  • Update courses to reflect technological changes
  • Stay current with automotive technology trends
  • Coordinate with the US Training Team on global projects
  • Transfer and publish French training assets
  • Explain complex vehicle systems simply and clearly
The Work Environment
  • The role involves working from home and at a fully equipped garage within the Oshawa Assembly plant, with vehicle access
  • Occasional driving of manufacturer vehicles for course development support
Required Skills and Experiences
  • Licensed Automotive Technician with at least 5 years of hands-on experience, preferably in a General Motors dealership
  • 2-3 years experience as a technical trainer and/or course developer
  • Knowledge of current automotive technologies
  • Familiarity with General Motors processes and software is a plus
  • Ability to understand and simplify automotive diagnosis and repair processes
  • Interpretation skills for engineering documentation and schematics
  • Critical thinking and innovative training approach
  • Instructional design experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Graphics and design skills (Photoshop or similar)
  • Strong interactive training delivery skills
  • Detail-oriented and process-driven
  • Open to new theories and methods
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
