AutoPlanet Durham is looking for a Licensed Automotive Service Technician to join their team. We offer a Competitive Compensation Package including a flat hourly rate ranging from $30 - $40 per hour, a lucrative production bonus, a tool and boot allowance, and a $5,000 signing bonus paid out after three and six months of employment.

Here’s What You’ll Deliver

• Provide excellent customer service with a positive attitude.
• Retrieve repair orders promptly from dispatch.
• Obtain parts from the Parts Department as needed.
• Use the repair order punch clock accurately.
• Perform vehicle road tests when required.
• Address customer concerns using the Three C’s method – Complaint, Cause, Correction.
• Examine vehicles for additional safety or service work.
• Prepare detailed reports on repair orders.
• Estimate flat rate times using manuals and company policies.
• Price vehicle parts and check availability.
• Complete all work accurately and efficiently according to standards.
• Prepare parts for jobs when authorized.
• Save and tag parts for warranty, insurance, or customer requests.
• Perform road tests after services affecting drivability, excluding routine oil or transmission fluid changes.
• Evaluate work quality and timeliness.
• Supervise apprentices or students, reporting deficiencies.
• Attend factory and dealer training sessions.
• Maintain shop cleanliness and safety standards.
• Stay current with factory bulletins and emerging technologies.
• Perform vehicle walk-arounds on arrival.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Follow safety protocols and company policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What do you need to succeed?

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Fully licensed Automotive Service Technician (310S or higher).
• 3-5 years of automotive mechanical experience.
• Strong knowledge of automotive systems.
• Positive team attitude and reliability.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Good reading and comprehension skills.
• Courteous and dependable personality.
• Excellent diagnostic and electrical skills.
• Valid Ontario Driver’s License with a good record.
• Availability to work on Saturdays if needed.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Effective time management skills.
• Neat appearance, good judgment, mature attitude.
• Willingness to learn and succeed.
