Job Description - Automotive Service Technician (Apprentice or Licensed)

Location: Halifax , Nova Scotia
Shift/Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday with occasional Saturday shifts as required
Pay Rate: Competitive hourly rate, based on experience and qualifications
Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dependable and motivated Automotive Service Technician to join a high-performing, fast-paced shop environment. This role focuses on preparing vehicles for front-line dealership readiness-without the demands of full engine or transmission replacements. The shop is managed by a highly experienced Red Seal technician and offers steady workflow, a collaborative team, and a supportive workplace culture.

This position is open to licensed technicians , apprentices with a minimum of 2nd block completed , or those with certified service station experience and an MVI license .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct vehicle inspections, including pre- and post-sale assessments, frame checks, and test drives
  • Perform general maintenance such as oil changes, fluid top-ups, tire services, and basic repairs
  • Assist with more complex repairs including brakes, exhaust systems, alignments, ball joints, and A/C servicing
  • Support overall shop operations by helping with vehicle movement, shop upkeep, and team collaboration
  • (Optional) Provide customer support including sourcing parts, generating quotes, and completing work orders

Requirements:

  • Completion of at least 2nd block in the Automotive Service Technician apprenticeship program OR
    Certified Service Station Technician with a valid MVI license
  • 1-3 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, and/or electronic vehicle systems
  • Valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract
  • Basic computer and smartphone proficiency
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work safely, independently, and as part of a team
