Base pay range: CA$38.00 / hr - CA$40.00 / hr

About the Role:

Bartech Staffing is a leading engineering, technical, and professional staffing firm. Our client has engaged us to assist them in hiring a contract Materials Engineer - Senior. If you are interested in an opportunity to get your foot in the door with a leading company, we want to talk with you!

Responsibilities include:

  • Operating two brake-end dynos and one full-size chassis dyno, including test setup and reporting.
  • Supervising unionized personnel, ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and conflict resolution.
  • Analyzing data using Laser Vibrometer and Caliper Test Stan.
  • Providing vacation coverage in the Electromechanical Systems Test Lab as needed.
  • Shipping specimens to engineers and suppliers.
  • Leading dissection of components with external suppliers, tracking budgets, and generating purchase orders.
  • Interviewing, hiring, and training co-op students with ARDC management and University of Windsor.
  • Coordinating and instructing bargaining unit mechanics with excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Collaborating with mechanic supervisor, union, management, maintenance, and facilities teams.
  • Occasional coverage on afternoons, midnights, weekends, and overtime, as the operation runs 24/7.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, or Material Engineering from an accredited university.
  • At least 3 years of engineering experience in the automotive/testing industry; testing experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada and able to travel to the USA.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of Team Center, NX, Link ProLink, and CMM (assets).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, VBA.
  • Strong time management, leadership, planning, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Brake system design/testing experience.
  • Unigraphics NX experience.
  • Experience with data analysis in test labs.
