We are currently recruiting for a full-time Automotive Installer to join our upfitting team at MTC!
Duties and Responsibilities
- Installing all equipment necessary to modify brand-new vehicles into police and emergency vehicles. This includes routing and installing wire harnesses, controllers, partitions, auxiliary batteries, light bars, push bumpers, power supplies, component trays, and consoles.
- Installation and commissioning of various types of vehicle systems.
- Install electrical wiring, connect electrical fittings, drill holes, soldering, and perform all physical tasks associated with modifying vehicles for the acceptance of emergency-related equipment.
- System diagnostics and troubleshooting skills.
- Installation and removal of all equipment on emergency vehicles, reinstalling interior trim, retrofitting, and upgrading.
- Develop wiring routes throughout the vehicle for the most efficient wiring path and enable future replacement and/or troubleshooting.
- Work with customers and fleets on-site.
Physical & Working Conditions
- Work will involve frequent standing, bending, twisting, stooping, and kneeling.
- Fieldwork will be required at times, as well as varying work hours. A company vehicle is provided.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- In-shop environment.
- Comfortable with working outdoors if required.
Qualifications
- Experience working with automotive electrical systems.
- Experience working with automotive mechanical systems.
- Have a valid driver’s license.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
- Detail-oriented and focused on quality workmanship.
- EVT Certified preferred but not required.
- Whelen Trained preferred but not required.
Requirements
- 310k, 310S Licensed or Radio Communications Technician Certificate preferred but not required.
- 2-3 years of previous experience working on Emergency Vehicle installations and electronics preferred but not required.
- Pre-employment Police Background check is mandatory.
- Clean driver’s abstract.
- Full COVID-19 vaccination is required to visit customer locations as per their company policies.
- High School Graduate or Equivalent.
