Autoport Limited in Winnipeg, MB is hiring full-time Automotive Handler & Rail Offloader. You will unload vehicles for transport by truck or rail, handling them safely and efficiently on railcars.

This entry-level position offers training and growth within a safety-oriented, outdoors-year-round role. The job requires physical stamina, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working at height in a rail yard.

Qualifications

  • Punctual and reliable.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Team player with a strong safety mindset.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Physically capable of climbing ladders up to 15 feet, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in an active rail yard.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the daily plan as communicated by local leadership.
  • Drive vehicles onto railcars, often at heights, using a ramp system.
  • Ensure vehicles are spotted and secured within the railcar.
  • Prepare railcars and containers for shipment, including opening/closing doors and setting chocks.
  • Maintain organization of vehicles in the yard inventory.
  • Adhere to safety standards and procedures.
  • Communicate with Terminal Manager and railroad personnel for a safe, efficient environment.

Autoport Limited is hiring full-time Automotive Handler & Rail Offloader employees in Winnipeg, MB

In this position, you will be unloading vehicles to transport by truck, or train. Our diverse team works together to productively meet deadlines, solve problems, and carefully drive vehicles off of railcars for consignment. This role will also require climbing up and down railcar ladders, opening and closing railcar doors, placing and removing chocks that secure vehicles for shipment, and the ability to be able to climb in and out of vehicles repeatedly.

This role involvesphysical labour and requires employees to work outdoors year-round. If you thrive off the high of a “good day’s work” and are comfortable in a physically demanding environment, this position may be for you.

  • Ensure vehicles are spotted in accordance with customer standards and properly spaced and secured within the railcar
  • Perform duties to prepare railcars and containers for shipment such as opening and closing railcar doors, setting bridge plates, chocking and de-chocking vehicles.
  • Maintain organization of vehicles in the yard inventory.
  • Understand and adhere to all company and industry-related safety standards and procedures.
  • Communicate with the Terminal Manager and other railroad personnel to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
