Job summary

Axiom is seeking an Automotive Estimator in Aurora, ON, to drive quoting activities from RFQ through finalization. You’ll coordinate with tool shops, ensure manufacturability, and manage data accuracy while maintaining compliance with IATF-16949 standards.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years’ quoting experience, 3+ years in automotive manufacturing, and a post-secondary engineering degree. Proficiency in CAD tools and MS Office is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in Engineering or related field.
• Knowledge of automotive tooling/manufacturing as related roles.
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
• Proficient with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience with CAD software (NX/CATIA/SolidWorks).

Responsibilities

• Receive and prepare RFQ based on customer requirements.
• Download and store data from customer websites; discuss issues with customers.
• Maintain estimation logs; organize estimations by customer.
• Obtain accurate pricing and information for materials.
• Collaborate with tool shops; provide data for molds and fixtures.
• Prepare quote sheet for management review and approval.
• Submit finalized quotes to customers; accept P.O.s and verify details.
• Support program launches and sourcing; enter data into databases.
• Ensure compliance with IATF-16949 systems and procedures.
• Explain cost to customers to aid decision making; use Excel for estimating.

Where does the Automotive Estimator fit in?

As the Automotive Estimator, you will be primarily responsible for facilitating quoting activities, approving inputs, ensuring manufacturability, managing projects, and correcting documentation, quality & manufacturing issues. You are the ideal candidate if you have thorough knowledge and working background in Plastic Injection/Automotive manufacturing, component level technical understanding and have excellent customer service skills & supplier relations skills including negotiating and following‑up.

What you can expect as our next Automotive Estimator :

• Responsible for receiving and preparing RFQ (Request for Quote) based on customer requirements, creating screen dumps of parts with dimensions for visual reference
• Accountable for downloading and appropriately storing data from customer websites and discuss issues/concerns/requirements with customer
• Ensures to keep estimation logs of all quote activity‑organise estimations by customer
• Responsible for obtaining accurate & current pricing and any other pertinent information for materials selected
• Ensuring proper decision making as related to cavitation of tool based on annual requirements, part complexity and size
• Responsible for collaborating with tool shops, sharing relevant data for estimations on molds and check fixtures
• Ensures to prepare quote sheet in appropriate format for management review & approval
• Responsible for submitting finalized quotes to customer per requested requirements (customer website, email etc.)
• Accept Purchase Orders (P.O) awarded from quotes, comparing all information, details & parameters match the actual P.O. Example: Cycle time, weight etc.
• Assists in supporting program launch and sourcing
• Ensures to enter historical data information into database as required
• Ensures compliance to IATF-16949 systems and procedures
• Work with the Program Management team to explain cost to customer & provide analysis when required
• Hands on use of tools like Microsoft Excel to facilitate estimating
• Additional duties as assigned
• Minimum 3 - 5 years’ of quoting experience
• Minimum 3 years’ experience within Automotive Manufacturing
• Post‑secondary degree in Engineering or related field
• Relevant field knowledge and experience within automotive tooling/manufacturing as a Program Manager/Quality Engineer/Manufacturing Engineer/Purchasing/Sales Engineer etc.
• Impeccable oral and written communication & presentation skills, with the ability to interface with management
• Proficient with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Proficient with CAD software (NX/CATIA/Solid works)
• Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
• Strong relationship building skills (internal & external stakeholders)
• Customer advocate‑able to effectively communicate client needs to the organization simultaneously balancing organizational requirements
• Proactive view to identifying & driving financial benefits for our clients
• Proven successful launches of previous programs (on time & on budget) an asset
• Ability to think & execute strategically and is results oriented
• Self‑motivated individual with a strong attention to detail
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi‑task as required
• Experience within Plastic Injection is an asset
