Job summary

Septodont is seeking a Maintenance Automation Technician to troubleshoot and repair production machinery, perform preventative maintenance, and support GMP compliance. The role requires reading diagrams, PLC logic, and collaborating with Maintenance staff to ensure reliable operations.

Shifts include Day and Night with a premium; candidates should be legally eligible to work in Canada and be able to travel occasionally to Septodont sites.

Qualifications

• 4–5 years of maintenance experience in automated systems with GMP exposure.
• Ability to read architectural, mechanical, PID, and electrical drawings.
• Certification/licensing as 309A or 442A is preferred.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing complex automation issues.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical and controls systems (PLCs).
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on production machinery.
• Read and interpret PLC ladder logic, PID diagrams and schematics.
• Isolate faults and replace defective parts with minimal downtime.
• Train and mentor junior maintenance staff.
• Support GMP compliance and safety regulations on site.
• Participate in continuous improvement and maintenance shutdowns.

What if your next professional chapter started with us?We have an opportunity for a Maintenance Automation Technician## Shift Available:* Day Shift - Monday to Friday - 6am to 2pm* Night Shift - Sunday to Thursday - 10pm to 6am - Shift Premium $3/hour**Work Authorization: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada for the duration of employment. This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored immigration support.****POSITION SUMMARY**The Maintenance Automation Technician is accountable to the Maintenance Supervisor for all activities related to troubleshooting and repair of production machinery and systems as well as completion of necessary preventative maintenance; and has a dotted line reporting relationship to the Production Manager.**PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*** Responds promptly and acts independently and autonomously to troubleshoot issues related to mechanical, computerized, controls and electronic systems having complex automation and inter-related circuits (i.e. PLCs, controllers, drives, electronic circuits, industrial PC’s) in order to determine best course of action to address breakdowns and repairs.* Performs routine diagnostic checks on automated systems, monitor automated systems, mechanical systems, including pneumatics and hydraulics. Isolate problems and perform repairs* Uses various test instruments and PLC programs to diagnose problems.* Applies the knowledge and understanding of industrial electronic devices and systems, digital and analog circuits during the troubleshooting process.* Make use of hand and machine tools in the troubleshooting/repair processes* Assures that all electrical and automation work is completed according to respective codes.* Inspects and tests operation of machinery and systems to diagnose faults using testing devices. Repairs and adjusts system components or remove and replace defective parts.* Assists with on-the-job training for new employees to explain policies, work procedures, and to demonstrate use and maintenance of equipment.* Works closely in a collaborative manner with all Maintenance staff* Performs preventive maintenance according to the SOPs and reports all deficiencies or unsafe working conditions found to Maintenance Supervisor* Participates on continuous improvement projects as required.
