Job summary

Manpower Canada seeks an Automation Technician for a cutting-edge automotive automation environment in Newmarket, ON. The role is full-time, permanent, and operates on the NIGHT SHIFT, offering a competitive hourly rate and growth potential.

You will develop and optimize PLC programs, design HMIs, and program robots for material handling, welding, and assembly in a high-energy team.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of automotive experience and hands-on PLC programming.
• Experience with automation systems and robotics integration is required.
• Knowledge of safety systems and standards is essential.
• Familiarity with industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, DF1).
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools to identify faults and improve efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and optimize PLC programs using Studio 5000 / RSLogix 500 (ladder logic, structured text, FBs).
• Design and maintain HMIs with FactoryTalk View Studio and PanelBuilder32.
• Program and integrate robots for material handling, welding, and assembly.
• Work with safety PLCs (GuardLogix, PILZ) and relay systems to enhance system safety.
• Implement and troubleshoot industrial networks and ensure seamless communication between PLCs, HMIs, and field devices.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify faults and improve system efficiency.
• Develop and maintain vision systems for data collection and image processing.
• Ensure backup and recovery of PLC, HMI projects, and network configurations.
