Job summary

Eclipse Automation in Cambridge, ON seeks an Electrical Engineering Software Designer to design control software, integrate with electrical and mechanical systems, and install machines at customer sites worldwide.

You will program PLCs/PCs, test during integration, and travel to install, commission, and train customers, leveraging robotics and vision systems. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience within a custom automation environment (OEM).
• Post-secondary engineering degree, diploma or equivalent, specializing in electrical, systems or computer engineering.
• Strong programming, mechanical and electrical problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of robotics, control systems and machine operation with hands-on experience.
• Travel to vendor/supplier locations is 30% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop software programs (PLC and/or PC based) for customer and project requirements.
• Debug and commission control systems at the facility and at customer sites.
• Travel to customer and supplier sites for installation, commissioning and training.
• Select, test and integrate hardware and software components such as robots, motion controllers, sensors and vision systems.
• Collaborate with Controls Engineering and other groups to improve integration methods.
