Job summary

Proxima Centauri in Montreal, QC, seeks two Automation Project Managers to lead automation projects from proposal through commissioning, building strong client and supplier relationships.

One position is based in Montreal, Canada, and the other in Utah, USA, with a hybrid work arrangement after 3 months and up to 10 remote workdays per month. Salary reaches up to CAD 130,000 with comprehensive benefits and a company-supported retirement plan.

Responsibilities

• Lead automation project delivery from proposal development through commissioning.
• Define system architectures and technical specifications.
• Plan projects, allocate resources, and monitor schedules and budgets.
• Coordinate internal teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Maintain regular communication with clients and provide project status updates.
• Oversee design, programming, testing (FAT/SAT), commissioning, and start-up activities.
• Review and validate functional analyses, PLC/HMI programming, and technical documentation.
• Support user training and the handover of technical documentation packages.

As a global organization, operating in more than 35 countries, they are recognized for their expertise in engineering, automation, electrical systems, instrumentation, and turnkey project delivery.

Due to continued growth, our client is seeking two Automation Project Managers, one based in Montreal, Canada, and one based in Utah, USA. In this role, you will lead the execution of automation projects from proposal development through commissioning, ensuring successful project delivery while building strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in the preparation of technical proposals and project cost estimates;
• Define system architectures and technical specifications;
• Plan projects, allocate resources, and monitor schedules and budgets;
• Coordinate internal teams, suppliers, and subcontractors;
• Maintain regular communication with clients and provide project status updates;
• Oversee design, programming, testing (FAT/SAT), commissioning, and start-up activities;
• Review and validate functional analyses, PLC/HMI programming, and technical documentation;
• Support user training and the handover of technical documentation packages.
