Your Opportunity

BDO is seeking a strategic, people-centered Automation Practice Leader to drive innovation and business transformation through automation initiatives. This leadership role blends a passion for solving business problems with a strong understanding of modern automation tools such as Microsoft Power Platform. You will lead the development and growth of our automation practice, working across teams to deliver impactful solutions, engage clients, and strengthen our partnership with Microsoft.

You’ll play a vital role in helping organizations embrace automation to improve efficiency, reduce complexity, and create meaningful business outcomes—while also mentoring teams and shaping the future of our automation offerings.

Key Responsibilities

Practice Leadership & Growth

  • Champion the vision and strategic direction of BDO’s automation offerings.
  • Collaborate with sales, delivery, and industry teams to identify growth opportunities and shape go-to-market strategies.
  • Represent the firm in client meetings, Microsoft partner events, and industry forums to promote thought leadership and BDO’s automation capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, prospects, and Microsoft stakeholders.

Client Engagement & Delivery Oversight

  • Guide clients through their automation journey, helping them identify use cases and build roadmaps aligned to their business objectives.
  • Lead client workshops and discovery sessions to understand business challenges and propose tailored automation solutions.
  • Oversee project delivery to ensure alignment with client needs, quality standards, and timelines.
  • Provide executive level support during key client interactions and escalations.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead and coach a team of automation professionals, fostering a collaborative and purpose-driven culture.
  • Ensure your team has the right skills and resources to deliver client engagements effectively.
  • Recruit, onboard, and grow talent to meet increasing demand.
  • Serve as a mentor and advisor to team members, providing regular feedback and support for development.

Your experience and education

  • You have a strong ability to lead with influence, build credibility quickly, and foster trust with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • You have proven success in identifying business opportunities, guiding clients through change, and driving technology adoption.
  • You have experience with automation and low-code platforms, especially Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, Power Pages, Copilot Studio, Generative AI (GenAI), Agentic AI, Agents, and Robotic Process Automation (RPA)).
  • You have a comfort communicating value in both business and technical terms, translating automation concepts into real-world impact.
  • You have experience managing teams and delivering complex projects in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • If you have familiarity with key industries in Canada, it is a strong asset.
  • If you have any Microsoft Power Platform certifications, this is considered an asset.
  • You have a post-secondary education or equivalent work experience.
