Job summary

Systemex Automation in Laval, QC is seeking an Automation Integration SME to act as a cross-functional technical reference on industrial automation projects. You will assess, challenge, and guide solutions to ensure robustness, consistency, and standardization across initiatives, reducing integration risks and accelerating problem resolution.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in industrial automation, systems integration, and the installation and commissioning of automated equipment.
  • Excellent understanding of automated mechanical systems, industrial electrical architectures, PLC systems, industrial robotics, and vision technologies.
  • Ability to understand multidisciplinary interactions within complex automated systems and quickly identify technical and operational risks.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach and a global view of projects and long-term impacts.
  • Excellent ability to explain complex concepts clearly, collaborate across disciplines, and positively influence technical direction with an innovative mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Define, evaluate, and continuously improve automation concepts, integration methods, and project execution practices.
  • Challenge proposed technical solutions to ensure consistency, feasibility, robustness, and quality.
  • Ensure technological consistency across projects, teams, and design approaches while contributing to standardization of best practices.
  • Identify technical risks, critical integration points, operational issues, and field-related project risks.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and brainstorm to develop new technological solutions.
  • Assess impact of mechanical, electrical, software, and robotic choices on system performance.
  • Support teams in complex decisions and act as technical reference during critical project phases.
  • Estimate installation and commissioning efforts, accelerate problem resolution, contribute to evolution.

About the Role

As the Automation Integration SME, you will act as a cross-functional technical reference within Systemex Automation’s automation projects. You will assess, challenge, and guide technical solutions to ensure the robustness, consistency, and standardization of concepts developed across projects, while helping reduce integration risks, accelerate problem resolution, improve the overall quality of delivered solutions, and support the company’s technological evolution. With significant experience in industrial automation and a multidisciplinary profile, you will be able to analyze the interactions between mechanical, electrical, robotic, control, and vision systems, with primary expertise focused on mechanical systems and systems integration.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in defining, evaluating, and continuously improving automation concepts, integration methods, and project execution practices.
  • Challenge proposed technical solutions to ensure consistency, feasibility, robustness, and overall quality.
  • Ensure technological consistency across projects, teams, and design approaches while contributing to the standardization of best practices.
  • Quickly identify technical risks, critical integration points, operational issues, and field-related project risks.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and brainstorming activities to develop new technological solutions.
  • Assess the impact of mechanical, electrical, software, and robotic choices on overall automated system performance.
  • Support teams in complex technical decisions and act as a technical reference during critical project phases.

Qualifications

  • Excellent understanding of automated mechanical systems, industrial electrical architectures, PLC systems, industrial robotics, and vision technologies.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach and a global view of projects and their long-term impacts.
  • Excellent ability to explain complex concepts clearly, collaborate across disciplines, and positively influence technical direction, with strong technical credibility, an innovative mindset, and a strong interest in new automation technologies.
  • Proficiency in French is mandatory. Proficiency in English is also required in order to communicate effectively with internal clients and partners located outside of Quebec.
