Job Opportunity: Automation Engineers

This Hamilton-based company is a well-established Industrial Automation Integration firm serving many reputable clients across New Zealand.

The team is divided into design and project groups, as well as site-based maintenance and upgrade services for large manufacturing plants across various industries.

The Roles

With a strong workflow and ongoing growth, the company is looking to hire Automation Engineers. If you have a background in automation, you are capable of analyzing processes and equipment, and translating this into well-structured code for PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.

The Projects Team handles larger-scale projects, while the Services Team provides automation support and upgrades at key client sites. Your experience and preferences will determine the best fit.

Typically, Automation Engineers in the Services Team are on-call one week in every 8 or 10. During on-call periods, you will receive an additional $95 per day. On-call work is compensated at a special hourly rate, with a minimum of 1.5 hours for any call, even if it lasts only 10 minutes.

Ideal Skills and Experience
  • Tertiary qualification in Automation, Software, Mechatronics, Electrical, Process Engineering, or similar
  • An engineering mindset to understand and describe automation processes
  • Experience in PLC, SCADA, and HMI programming and configuration
  • Proficiency with at least two major automation platforms (e.g., Rockwell/Allen Bradley, Schneider, Siemens, Citect, GE, Omron)
  • Experience in industrial automation within relevant sectors such as Dairy, Food & Beverage, Energy/Power, General Manufacturing, Water & Wastewater
