Job summary

LAPORTE is seeking an Automation Engineer to join our Toronto, ON team, where you will define customer needs, design automated systems, and program PLCs and user interfaces to deliver robust process automation.

You will lead system testing and commissioning, manage factory automation projects, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams, while preparing specifications and cost estimates. Occasional client visits in the Greater Toronto Area are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in automated production engineering (APE), electrical engineering, or equivalent.
  • Member of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the field of industrial automation.
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley, Rockwell, and Siemens products.
  • Experience in the food and/or pharmaceutical industry (an asset).
  • Occasional visits to clients in the Greater Toronto Area.

Automation Engineer, Toronto, ON


Responsibilities and Duties:



  • Define customer needs

  • Design automated systems and select equipment (controls, instrumentation, motor controls, control panel design, etc.)

  • Have flexibility to travel to external manufacturing sites as needed
