Job summary

Patch Tech Staffing is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer in Calgary to lead automated testing strategies for web and mobile platforms, guiding cross-functional teams and aligning technical work with client expectations for robust software delivery and high-quality releases.

You will lead developers and QA engineers, build Java-based applications, create Selenium test scripts, and implement mobile testing with Appium/Espresso/XCUITest, while championing CI/CD, Agile, and DevOps practices

Qualifications

• 3 - 7 years of experience in Java development and testing.
• Strong expertise in Selenium for test automation.
• Experience with mobile testing frameworks like Appium, Espresso, or XCUITest.
• Hands-on experience in both manual and automated testing for web and mobile applications.
• Expertise in CI and CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of software development life cycles and methodologies, including Agile and DevOps.
• Excellent leadership, mentoring and communication skills.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
• Nice-to-have: Playwright.
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., ISTQB).

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in both manual and automated testing for web and mobile applications.
• Expertise in continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) pipelines.
• Strong understanding of software development life cycles and methodologies, including Agile and DevOps.
• Excellent leadership and mentoring skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
