Qualifications

• Entry level position with apprentice to journeyperson potential.
• Experience preferred but training available for 2nd and 3rd year apprentices.

Responsibilities

• Review damage reports and estimates; plan repair work.
• Repair and replace front end and body components; frame and underbody work.
• Hammer dents and defects using tools; fill holes with filler or soldering.
• Remove damaged parts and replace with new components; weld as needed.
• Straighten frames using appropriate pulling and anchoring equipment.
• Finish surfaces by filing, grinding and sanding; mask surfaces for painting.
• Mix and apply paint; match colours; apply primers and finishes.
• Repair or replace glass and interior components; test drive for handling.

Auto Body Technician

Type: Entry Level including Apprentice to Journeyperson

Description: Auto body technicians repair and replace damaged motor vehicle structures and body parts, and interior and exterior finishes. Journeyperson auto body technicians may specialize in damage appraisal, frame straightening, surface preparation, sheet metal work, and refinishing.

Pay Plan: Commensurate with experience.

Job Duties:Essential Duties NOT in order of importance (included but not limited to):

• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed

• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components

• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers

• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams

• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place

• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment

• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools

• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting

• Mix paint, blend and match colours

• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns

• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs

• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation

• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling.

Details: Full time insurance work with no rust repair and no weekends.

Experience preferred but will train 2nd & 3rd year apprentices.

You must have your own tools.
