Qualifications

POSITION STATUS : Permanent Part-Time Guaranteed Hours

Week 1 / 2

Sunday 7am-2:30pm

Monday : 7am-2:30pm

Tues 7am-10am

Wed 7am-10am

Thurs 7am-10am

Friday 7am-10am

HOURS OF WORK : 27 hours per week (Days / Weekends / Holidays / Rotational Schedule; Flexibility required as per Collective Agreement)

HOURLY PAY RATE : $21.79 - $23.87 per hour (Autism Support Assistant)

21.84 - $22.83 per hour (Overnight Awake)

18.42 per hour (Overnight Sleep)

UNION AFFILIATION : CUPE Local 2936-12

About the Role : Reporting to the Manager, Services and Supports, the Autism Support Assistant will provide services to maximize health, safety, and personal fulfillment for individuals with ASD. Responsibilities include :

• Providing coaching in social skills, communication, and leisure activities
• Supporting individuals in overcoming barriers to improve their quality of life and meet Personal Outcomes
• Administering medication according to procedures
• Following Behavioral and Crisis Protocols
• Building positive relationships with families, supports, and community members

Education and Experience Qualifications :

• Completion of a Human Services Diploma from a recognized Community College or University, or a Personal Support Worker certificate from a Community College or approved Private Career College
• OR Completion of Ontario Secondary School (or equivalent) with 1 year of related experience, preferably supporting people with ASD

Knowledge Requirements :

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements :

• Ability to physically support adults with ASD
• Ability to complete Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification; training provided at no cost
• Valid G2 Driver’s License, access to a reliable vehicle, and proof of third-party liability insurance
• Must provide a Driver’s Abstract in good standing with fewer than three demerit points
