What you’ll be doing

In this role you will participate in risk-focused audit testing of operational processes and controls, and provide leadership, insight and proactive advice to management and stakeholders on control weaknesses, inefficiencies and emerging risks to the bank by participating in audit engagements within the Wealth Management portfolio.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote

How you’ll succeed

  • Audit execution – Assess key business risks and evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of related processes and controls; identify and communicate internal control weaknesses and inefficiencies to business line management. Advise management and business partners of best practices and promote compliance with CIBC policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Teamwork facilitation – Work collaboratively with audit management and other audit team members to plan and execute risk-based audit testing, report audit results, validate deficiency remediation, and perform continuous monitoring of management’s control environment. Participate on internal projects to improve and simplify audit processes.

  • Project management – Take ownership and effectively manage multiple audit assignments at different stages of the audit cycle and complete required tasks on a timely basis and in accordance with audit methodology standards.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience in planning and executing audit testing. You have comprehensive knowledge and experience auditing operational processes and controls, regulatory requirements and risk management principles. Knowledge of Wealth Management (Asset Management, Brokerage and Private Wealth Management) and the related regulatory environment within a large financial institution is preferred. Professional designation such as CPA, CFA, CIA or equivalent would be an asset.

  • You understand that success is in the details. You notice things that others don't. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making. You have good communication skills and documentation of audit results is sufficiently detailed, clear, concise and error free.

  • You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems, and making sense of information. You're confident using data analytics tools (e.g. Excel) and in your ability to communicate detailed information in an impactful way.

  • You're driven by collective success. You know that collaboration can transform a good idea into a great one. You understand the power of an inclusive team that enjoys working together to bring a shared vision to life.

  • Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work and you live our values – trust, teamwork and accountability.
