Job summary

CIBC is seeking a seasoned audit professional to lead and participate in large, complex audits within Capital Markets. You will assess controls, engage business partners, and provide independent opinions on design and effectiveness in a hybrid work setting.

With 3+ years in audit or related fields, you will leverage CPA/CFA/CIA assets and strong communication skills to influence risk management and control improvements across the organization. Toronto location, regular on-site and remote days.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years proven and progressive experience in audit, accounting and/or other equivalent experience.
  • Fundamental understanding of Capital Markets Trading, Sales and Compliance is desired.
  • Professional designation such as CPA, CFA, CIA would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in large, complex audits in Capital Markets and assess effectiveness of controls.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with business partners and provide independent opinions on design and operating effectiveness.
  • Communicate risk issues clearly and collaborate with management to implement action plans.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to participate and provide leadership in large and highly complex audits in Capital Markets and effectiveness of operational and management controls in accordance with the CIBC Audit and industry best practices and develop and maintain strong relationships with business partners. At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 2 days per week on-site plus last Friday of every month, while other days will be remote.

Manage planning & execution of audit assignments - Identify and fully understand the key business processes, their inherent risk, and the control environment. Plan and/or participate in risk based audit activities, assess relevant processes and controls, and provide an independent opinion on their design and operating effectiveness. Audit reporting - Identify business control weaknesses, and objectively assess the severity and materiality of the issues and their potential impact on the business. Work with business management to develop action plans based on realistic and workable solutions, to mitigate the risk and exposure in the long term. Continuous improvement - Provide effective and timely communication on risk issues with influence and judgment to create positive outcomes. Look for ways to enhance audit guidelines and practice development and to improve efficiency and audit experience.

Who you are

You can demonstrate experience in and have in-depth understanding of the capital markets business, products, risks, processes and related controls within areas of responsibility, with minimum of 3 years proven and progressive experience in audit, accounting and/or other equivalent experience. You also have a fundamental understanding of Capital Markets Trading, Sales and Compliance; Professional designation/certification such as CPA , CFA, CIA or equivalent would be an asset.
