Job summary

RSM Calgary is seeking an ambitious associate to join our audit team, helping understand client needs, assess risks, and apply GAAP/GAAS frameworks across diverse industries. You will learn our audit approach and tools while collaborating with experienced professionals.

This role involves travel to client sites, strong Excel use, and delivering accurate financial statements. A committed accounting major with 90 credit hours and progress toward a BA/BS is ideal; teamwork and communication are

  • Working toward BA/BS degree in accounting.
  • Accounting major enrolled.

Responsibilities

  • Understand clients' needs, industry, and GAAP/GAAS issues.
  • Learn RSM audit approach and tools.
  • Assess risks and internal controls.
  • Perform substantive tests and tests of controls.
  • Draft financial statements in prescribed formats.

Job description

Responsibilities:
  • Understanding clients' needs and expectations, their business and industry, accounting and control systems, employees, company values and industry-related GAAP and GAAS issues
  • Developing an understanding of the RSM audit approach and tools
  • Assessing risks and evaluating the client's internal control structure
  • Performing substantive tests and tests of internal controls to identify and resolve accounting or reporting issues
  • Drafting financial statements under prescribed formats
Required Qualifications:
  • 90 credit hours completed
  • Working towards B.A. / B.S. degree or equivalent from accredited university
  • Accounting Major
  • Travel to assigned client locations is required.
  • Must have access to and ability to arrange for use of reliable modes of transportation to those locations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work effectively on a team
  • Ability to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment

Compensation Range: $50,160 - $59,850
