Job description

We are currently seeking an Audiovisual Technician to join our Library team.

Job Overview: Audiovisual Technician

Consult with patrons to assess and determine audiovisual equipment, computer, and software needs; reserve audiovisual equipment and software; instruct patrons and staff on the use of audiovisual and computer equipment; troubleshoot, repair, and maintain audiovisual and computer equipment. Provide equipment purchase consultation and digital media transfer services. Maintain booking system for audiovisual and computer equipment and software; coordinate external courier deliveries of audiovisual materials; perform library circulation functions.

Education and Experience

• Completion of a two-year Library Technician or Media Technician diploma from a publicly accredited post-secondary institution, or a combination of equivalent education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Demonstrated experience using an automated circulation system.
  • Ability to work tactfully and discreetly with diverse individuals and situations, and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in keyboarding, understanding of computer concepts and terminology, and experience with word processing software and file management systems.
  • Knowledge of library classification systems.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, solve problems, and perform well under pressure.
  • Previous experience in a public service environment.
  • Experience operating, troubleshooting, and performing basic repairs on audiovisual, camera, and computer equipment.
  • Adaptability to changing technology and equipment.
  • Physical ability to lift 30 to 50 pounds and move equipment on carts.
  • Proven ability to train users and coworkers in equipment and software operation, including adaptive equipment for users with special needs.
  • Experience working with adaptive equipment for users with special needs.

Monday to Friday 9:45am-5:15pm
1 x 30-minute unpaid meal period and 2 x 15-minute rest periods.
