Job summary

The YMCA of Lethbridge is seeking a part-time Attendant, Slide to help ensure the safety and enjoyment of our aquatic facilities. You will monitor the water slide, flume, and flow rider, retrieve boards, and maintain a clean and safe environment for all patrons.

Our role offers a complimentary membership and pension plan, with a competitive hourly wage of CAD 17.50 for part-time staff. This position supports our mission by upholding the YMCA values in daily operations and guest interactions.

Qualifications

  • Bronze Cross or higher certification is required.
  • Current Intermediate First Aid and CPR Level C certifications are required.
  • Evidence of an acceptable Police Information Check and Child Intervention Check if applicable.
  • Three professional references are required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patrons are following proper safety guidelines.
  • Monitor the water slide, flume, and flow rider areas and retrieve flow rider boards as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Support part-time team members with program operations and guest services.
  • Assist in emergencies and follow YMCA safety and emergency procedures.

Job Summary

The Attendant, Slide serves the mission of the YMCA of Lethbridge by ensuring the proper use of amenities and maintaining the safety of patrons. The main goals of this position are:

  1. Ensure patrons are following proper safety guidelines.
  2. Monitor aspects of the water slide, flume, and flow rider including clearing from previous patrons and retrieving flow rider boards.
  3. Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  4. Benefits for part-time employees include a complimentary membership and pension plan.

Leadership and Strategic Planning

  • Exemplify the YMCA of Lethbridge’s Core Values of caring, honesty, inclusiveness, respect, and responsibility.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive work environment, responding to general inquiries in a timely manner and in accordance with Association policies and guidelines.
  • Be a YMCA ambassador by engaging in and promoting practices and frameworks which ensure diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Participate in the YMCA of Lethbridge’s health and safety program including incident management and emergency response when required.
  • Assist in emergencies (internally and externally to the aquatics area) in accordance with YMCA standards and the YMCA Emergency Response Procedures.
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating effective listening and comprehensive skills to maintain working relationships.

Organizational and Department Management

  • Contribute to the completion of administrative duties within Aquatics including headcounts and changeroom checks.
  • Occasionally carry out tasks requiring some mental effort and concentration.
  • Occasionally carry out tasks requiring a reasonable degree of mental effort and concentration.
  • Confirm the water slide and flume are clear from previous patron before authorizing use of next patron.
  • Monitor the general safety of the aquatic amenities, changerooms, and associated areas.
  • Report concerns to a member of the Aquatics leadership team.
  • Model best practices, upholding high standards for excellence in team implementations.
  • Monitor the crash area in the Flow rider and retrieving the Flow rider boards.
  • Work on proceduralized tasks that require following prescribed standard practices.
  • Attend all required YMCA trainings and recertifications.

Financial Management and Philanthropic Involvement

  • Model the Association’s dedication to philanthropy.
  • Participate in Fund Development Initiatives to further the impact of team efforts.
  • Adhere to the team’s annual budget.

External Relations and Advocacy

  • Build positive relationships with members, patrons, employees, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
  • Role model team initiatives and projects within the Association.
  • Follow policies regarding confidentiality to safeguard data and information and handle sensitive information with a strong sense of ethics and confidentiality, in addition to all Association policies and guidelines.
  • Participate in external growth opportunities in alignment with team goals.
Physical Demands
  • This position includes prolonged standing
  • This position involves the ability to lift 20 kgs
  • This position involves entry into aquatic amenities
